Maribor 2012 (European Capital of the Culture in Slovenia): The European Youth Week
“The “European Youth Week” is an opportunity to explore good practices in various areas of life. For example, all countries in the European Union will be presented to visitors within the European Village project with colorful market stalls and an accompanying entertainment program that will revive the old town center – which is a gathering point for locals and visitors. Cultural diversity and special features of each country will be presented with typical items, music, dance, food, folk costumes, and other specific ethnic features. The European Youth Week, which will significantly contribute to the attractiveness of the old part of the town, includes the following basic activities: the ‘Youth on the Move’ ‘promotional campaign by the European Commission; a presentation of schools selected in the competition on lifelong learning (a presentation of experiences in international cooperation); the European Village (learning about EU countries), and Youth in Action (the promotion of active European citizenship, solidarity, and tolerance among young Europeans).”
