Conference in Czech Republic: challenges of the international migration in Europe
Through the ages migration has been essential for the human development and integration processes all over the world. However, extensive discussion is taking place in regards to the limitation of migration processes in connection to the failures of multicultural policies and integration schemes. It should beunderstood, that “integration” or “adaptation” process are always unique in terms of the hosting country government policies, mentality of “integrated” and local people, level of “tolerance” in the society, migrants’ ability to adopt new culture and traditions, etc.
The conference has been conceived to take a look at migration from the different perspectives: from the historical point of view – in regards to the specific attributes of the European migration, from the cultural point of view – in regards to the specific nature of adaptation/ integration processes; from the security point of view – in terns of possible threats brought by the migration flows; from the geopolitical point of view – looking for the ties between migration and geopolitical issues.
The conference invites papers on the following topics of reflection and discussion:
Theoretical concepts of migration;
Integration, acculturation and adaptation process. challenges and examples;
Historical aspects of migration processes in Europe;
The specific features of post-colonial relations;
migrants from former colonies; opportunities for adaptation;
Specific features of migration in the Czech Republic and neighboring countries;
Muslim immigrants. the challenges of integration and adaptation;
Migration and security;
Impacts of historical and geopolitical issues on the migration’s patterns.
Applicants should send an abstract of 200-300 words, stating clear idea of the paper; short
biography to katerinabatueva@gmail.com. Paper presentations should not exceed 30 minutes.
