European Voluntary Service | Grant to volunteer abroad in Europe

Who: Everybody who wants to get socially involved doing international volunteering abroad in Europe
Age: From 16 to 30 years old.
Type: Volunteering and acting within a social project.
Placements: You can apply in an organisation, foundation, NGO or associations which is active within a specific social matter or a cause.
Types of projects: The themes are numerous, you can find a wide field of action such as Disability, Education, Gender Equality, Health, European Awareness, Environment, Animal Warfare, Active Role of Women in the Society, Civil Protection, Cooperation Development, or projects of inclusion among many more…
Duration of the contract: from few weeks up to 3 months for “short-term” EVS project and from 6 months up to a year for “long-term” EVS projects.
Requirements to get a European Voluntary Service grant:
- You need to go the the official database and find a project in the field that interests you
- Then you need to fill the form and send it to the National Agency of your country before the deadline
- You also need to contact the host organisation in charge of the projects you found, normally the contact information of those organisation is given along with the project call you find in the database
- Once you have done it, you need to get in touch with a sending organisation in your country which manages your file and coordinates your application between the National Agency and the Host Organisation
- Above all: be patient! This process may takes months
Grant and management of the expenses during the EVS
The hosting organisation is given a grant for the whole duration of the project. This monthly grant is about 565 euros a month depending on the country where the volunteer undertakes its project. This grant is managed and divided by the Hosting Organisation such as follow: a part is taken for the rent, another for the food shopping and finally about 100 euros if monthly given to the volunteer as pocket money.
